Top 10 Contemporary Christmas Songs Playlist + Honorable Mentions
It’s the first day of Decemeber, y’all! Which means non-stop Christmas music without annoying people! (Hey, don’t judge me for listening to “Christmas & Chill” in September!) So, today I’m sharing my top 10 contemporary Christmas songs.
I love original Christmas songs, and spins done on classics.
I made a YouTube playlist of the top ten, plus the honorable mentions, which can be found at the end of this post.
Top 10 Contemporary Christmas Songs
(#1) “All I Want For Christmas Is You” ~Mariah Carey
Obviously, the number one spot goes to the number one diva, The Queen of Christmas! It’s not Christmas until you play this song!
I think everyone is guilty of belting this song out at the top of their lungs.
This song is so great, it’s made over $50 million in royalties, and enters the number one spot on the Billboard’s Holiday 100 Chart every year.
Also, here’s an interesting article on “8 things you didn’t know about ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’”
(#2) “December” ~Ariana Grande
This original song is from her “Christmas & Chill” album (which I’m so obsessed with!). The chorus is so catchy when she sings “Merry Christmas, here I am, boy. Gonna love you, gonna give you all I can, boy. Merry Christmas, here I am, boy. I’m the present and you know it, here I am, boy”
(#3) “Mary, Did You Know?” ~Pentatonix
These a cappella superstars’ rendition of this song is aca-awesome! Their voices are so strong, it will give you chills.
(#4) Carol of the Bells – Pentatonix
I love when Celtic Woman sings this song with their angelic voices, but Pentatonix spices up yet another song with their a cappella skills.
(#5) “Oh Santa” ~Mariah Carey
If nothing on this list makes you dance, this one definitely will! And major kudos to Mariah for those trills!
(#6) “My Grown Up Christmas List” ~Kelly Clarkson
There are many covers of this song, but the first American Idol winner’s is my + Add New Categoryfavorite. The song is about meeting with Santa, and instead of asking for material things, she asks for the world to be better. She sings, “No more lives torn apart. That wars would never start…And right would always win…This is my grown up Christmas list.”
(#7) “Snow In California” ~Ariana Grande
This song is an original smooth, R&B song. Your head will automatically start nodding along when the beat drops!
And I’m also guilty of playing this one when it’s not Christmas (#SorryNotSorry!).
(#8) “Mistletoe” ~Justin Beiber
This is the “old Bieber” that everyone is always talking about lol. I love both old and new Bieber, and this song to cute and catchy. And the music video is absolutely adorable.
(#9) “Run Run Rudolph” ~Kelly Clarkson
This original pop rock hit is so refreshing! And will make you dance!
(#10) “Santa Tell Me” ~Ariana Grande
This is from her 2014 album “Christmas Kisses.” It’s been described as a “feel-good song.” In the chorus she sings “Santa, tell me if you’re really there / Don’t make me fall in love again if he won’t be here next year.”
- “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” ~Mariah Carey
- “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” ~Pentatonix
