Mardi Gras Makeup Tutorial

With the Mardi Gras season underway, and Fat Tuesday being next week, I was inspired to do a Mardi Gras makeup tutorial!
It features the colors of Mardi Gras, which are purple, green and gold.
Purple represents justice. Green represents faith. And gold represents power.

Many people erroneously believe that Mardi Gras in the United States started in Louisiana. It was actually first celebrated in my city in Mobile, Alabama in 1703!

Every year, huge crowds in my city and in New Orleans line the streets of downtown to watch parades and catch items thrown from the people atop the floats. It may sound strange to people not from here, but Mardi Gras is apart of our history and our culture. It’s a tradition, and many people from around the country travel to either Mobile or New Orleans to take part in the festivities.

The month long festivities always ends with a bang, with a huge number of parades on Fat Tuesday (which is Mardi Gras in French). The Monday before, which is called Lundi Gras, is also very big with quite a few parades. Lundi Gras means “fat Monday” in French. The day after Fat Tuesday is always the first day of Lent, which is Ash Wednesday.
