What I Love About Easter
Besides Christmas and my birthday, Easter is also one of my favorite times of the year. Although it sometimes feels a little commercialized with the constant ads about Easter fashions & so much emphasis placed on the ‘Easter bunny’; but that’s a rant for another day. 😂
I’ll admit, I do love getting “extra” dressy for Easter. As you can tell, I love pastel colors! I love when the little kids stand in front of the church congregation and perform Easter speeches. And I love the helping my mom dye tons of eggs every year even though there are no kids in the house!
As I prepare what I’m going to wear and buy decorations, I say to myself what I say to everyone,
“Don’t forget the true meaning of Easter.”
I love Easter because it celebrates Jesus’ resurrection. Without Jesus dying on the cross for us on this day, Good Friday, there would be no salvation. Without Jesus’ crucifixion there would be no one for us to follow, which means not being able to inherit the Kingdom of God. There would be no Heaven for us. And life would have no meaning.
Jesus’ resurrection marks the beginning of Christianity. I’m proud to be a Christian. And I know that without my faith, I would truly be a different person. I think back to eight grade, when I briefly went through a period of doubt. It felt like there was a black cloud following me around, and I felt so lost and empty. I can’t remember what caused this doubt (maybe my classmates—there were some bullies). Thankfully, I found my way back, and I’m very happy!
Have a blessed weekend everyone, & enjoy the holidays!
